La Copa ! Le vin de Pierre Clavel, une icône en bouteille. Depuis le premier millésime en 1992, cette cuvée n’a jamais perdu de son crédit auprès des aficionados. Haut de gamme élaboré à suffisamment d’exemplaires pour satisfaire le plus grand nombre. Ce fut jusqu’au millésime 2016 l’expression de la Méjanelle, c’est à partir de 2017 celle de Montpeyroux.

Elle semble sage la Copa, tout en réflexion, repliée sur elle-même, mais le regard pourpre porté au loin, regardant on ne sait quoi, elle attend, elle patiente. Comme nous dont les papilles salivent d'envie. Rien que sa caresse nous ensorcelle, nous fait ressentir son caractère, à la fois lapidaire et généreux, réservé et gourmand. Tout doucement, elle se donne...Un peu, en petites notes graciles qui mélangent fruité charnu et épices douces, soulignée par l'amertume noble de la gentiane. Cet équilibre doux amer nous bouscule tout en nous mettant en appétit. On en veut plus, on veut tout. Mais la Copa garde sa réserve, ce n'est pas aujourd'hui qu'elle se livrera. Mais on en sait assez pour accepter de patienter quelque temps, pas trop, on est comme elle, gourmand.

On l'aime avec

Son caractère particulier demande des plats à la fois forts en goût et généreux comme un civet de lièvre au cassis ou un agneau aux herbes. Côté grillade, les saucisses piquantes ou parfumées au fenouil. Quant au plat froids, le carpaccio de magret de canards ou le plus subtil, mais non moins puissant émincé de poulpe aux pois chiches et chorizo.

What is an author wine?

This can be so diverse depending on the personality of their sire, that it is easier to define what it is not. An author wine is anything but a standard, stereotypical wine, made to please as many people as possible. It is therefore rarely produced in millions of copies, copying itself from vintage in vintage.

An author wine is therefore a wine that does not look like that of the neighbor. Which from year to year will evolve according to the vagaries of the weather and the mood of the author - the two that can be linked. Because the author does not rely on market studies to carry out his boat. He makes his wine as he feels, as he likes, as he can, sometimes ... and too bad if he does not please everyone.

This is why author wines are sometimes classified as "table wine" or "France wine". Because the winemaker did not plan the authorized grape variety*, makes the assembly or vinification recommended in the name **. He is often a bit rebellious, our author. But that is why we like it! ... That said, author's wines are not systematically marginal: they are present in most of the appellations, and can be part of the elite of these this***. As author's wines are not chaptalized, levied, hacked ... They can have very different profiles depending on the vintage. It is up to us (resellers and consumers) to accept them as they are, and to remain faithful to the producers, because they need us to continue their activity.
