For four generations, the Thévenet family has been established in Villié-Morgon, in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyard.
Since 2007, Charly Thévenet, last of the line, vinifies under his name a cuvée in the Morgon and Régnié appellation. As at the family estate, where his father, Jean-Paul Thévenet, continues to promote "natural" wines, the vines of Régnié are grown organically, without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

From this remarkable wine-growing heritage – the oldest Gamay vines reach the age of 70 years – the soils are granitic with very little soil, the roots very quickly reach the bedrock, which brings a weft of minerality to the wine. The young winemaker harvests healthy, ripe grapes.

In the cellar, the vinifications are carried out simply, in traditional carbonic fermentation, on natural yeasts. Neither fined nor filtered, the wines receive only a minimal dose of sulphur. When younger, the Beaujolais wines from Domaine Charly Thévenet offer the characteristic fruity notes of Gamay; with age, they take on nuances of flowers, spices...

What does the name organize mean?

This can be so diverse depending on the personality of their sire, that it is easier to define what it is not. An author wine is anything but a standard, stereotypical wine, made to please as many people as possible. It is therefore rarely produced in millions of copies, copying itself from vintage in vintage.

An author wine is therefore a wine that does not look like that of the neighbor. Which from year to year will evolve according to the vagaries of the weather and the mood of the author - the two that can be linked. Because the author does not rely on market studies to carry out his boat. He makes his wine as he feels, as he likes, as he can, sometimes ... and too bad if he does not please everyone.
